From November 1st the European Community introduced the tire label providing information about rolling resistance, wet grip and noise emission. What's missing on this labels are the characteristics of winter tires.
As a matter of fact experts are complaining about this lack of information about specific characteristics of snow tires. These characteristics could help consumers to choose snow tires easily.
At the moment the only marker identifying snow tires is M+S, indicating the usage on snow and mud. In fact M is "mud" and S is "snow", and you can find this maker on snow tires and off-road tyres.
So experts suggest you look for tests on newspapers and magazines to choose your snow tires. They report a correct and complete evaluation of the main characteristics of any tire.
But do you think that a "winter tire label" would be useful?
