From
November 1st 2012, the European Community introduces the tire label, created to help consumers to know the energetic efficiency of tires, as well as other important tires' characteristics as rolling resistance, wet grip and noise emission.
Each tyre label reports information expressed in
letters in a scale of 7 values going from the green A to the brown G. These labels are very similar to fridges' labels indicating the energetic classes.
Thanks to these labels end consumer could choice his tires easily not just trusting his tire-dealer, but reading the real characteristics of each tyre.
Reading the label
Rolling resistance
Classification of rolling resistance of tyre is strongly related to fuel consumption of a vehicle. A set of tyre of the green class A corresponds to a minor fuel consumption and less CO2 emissions.
Wet grip
Classification of wet grip indicates the absolute stopping distance when driving 80km per hour and it's related to safety.
Noise emission
Classification of noise emission is measured in decibel and expressed with a maximum of three black lines. One black line indicates a better performance.
