Tires, greener and greener

Respect for the environment and eco-friendly materials are playing a more and more important role in the tire's industry. After the usage of dandelion by Bridgestone, the use of flowers and plants is growing faster.

In addition to dandelion also orange skins and corn are used to produce green tires. And now a new plant has been discovered, the Guayule, or Parthenium argentatum.

This a flowering shrub that is not used in the food industry. It needs just a little water and no pesticides for its natural growth. It can be found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico.

Guayule represents a great alternative to synthetic rubber in order to realize green tires that can be disposed of easier than regular tires. At the moment it's used by Bridgestone and Eni, that just started working into green tire industry thanks to Versalis, chemical industry that is part of the group.
